1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to TiesOfTime (“Platform”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using our website, services, mobile experiences, and genealogical visualization tools at tiesoftime.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and our accompanying Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to all terms, do not access or use the Platform.

2. Eligibility & Passwordless Authentication

You must be at least 16 years of age (or the minimum age of digital consent in your European Member State or jurisdiction) to register an account.

TiesOfTime uses a modern passwordless authentication model utilizing one-time verification codes (OTP) sent directly to your verified email address, as well as verified third-party social logins (Google, Apple). You are responsible for maintaining control over the email address associated with your account and for all activities that occur thereunder.

3. Genealogical Data & Living Relatives

TiesOfTime allows users to document, explore, and share genealogical heritage through interactive 3D family trees:

• Deceased Relatives: Historical genealogical research regarding deceased individuals is permitted for cultural, educational, and familial memory.
• Living Individuals (GDPR Compliance): In strict compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), you may NOT publish personally identifiable details (contact info, living status, private photos) of living third parties without their explicit consent or legal authorization.
• Node Claims: Living relatives invited to join a family tree may legally affirm their identity and claim their designated profile node. Falsely claiming or impersonating another living individual is strictly forbidden and constitutes identity fraud.

4. User Content & Intellectual Property

You retain complete ownership of all historical biographies, uploaded photographs, documents, and notes that you contribute to the Platform.

By uploading User Content, you grant TiesOfTime a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license solely to host, store, display, format, and visualize your family trees in accordance with your chosen privacy preferences (private workspace vs. public lineage preview). We do NOT sell your genealogical data or family photographs to third-party advertisers or data brokers.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use TiesOfTime to:

• Harvest, scrape, or extract personal data of living individuals for commercial marketing.
• Upload defamatory, obscene, hateful, or unlawful material.
• Impersonate any relative, historical figure, or living representative.
• Introduce viruses, automated bots, or engage in denial-of-service attempts.

6. Subscription Plans, Upgrades & Cancellations

TiesOfTime offers free core family tree exploration as well as premium subscription tiers (e.g. Monthly, Yearly, Two-Year). You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time within your Account Settings. Upon cancellation, paid features remain accessible through the end of your billing cycle.

7. Account Termination & Erasure

You may request account deletion at any time under GDPR Article 17 (Right to Erasure). You can delete trees you own or request disconnection from shared family lineages through your account settings or by reaching out to us via our contact section (contact@tiesoftime.com).

8. Disclaimers & Governing Law

TiesOfTime is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of historical infallibility. These Terms are governed by and construed under the laws of Poland and the European Union, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
